Like the Expo 2010 Shangai China, the Shanghai International Circuit located northwest of the city of 19 million inhabitants is a result of this economic phenomenon. Created from Hermann Tilke's imagination and opened in 2004, the circuit has hosted F1 ever since and the World Endurance Championship (WEC) since its inception in 2012.
5,451 meters long, the track is a succession of straights and tight corners, favourable to hybrid engines which recover energy when braking, such as Audi, Porsche and Toyota in LM P1. On the other hand, there are no fast turns enjoyed by drivers and the weather is unpredictable. For now, the forecast is looking good through Sunday morning, with a 50% chance of precipitation.
