WEC – Rebellion Racing fastest qualifier at the Total 6 Hours of Spa-Francorchamps

Rebellion Racing has clinched pole position for the restart of the FIA World Endurance Championship in Belgium. The Swiss outfit will head a field of 29 machines.

The FIA World Endurance Championship has got back underway with the qualifying session on the seven-kilometre Spa-Francorchamps circuit. And it’s Norman Nato and Gustavo Menezes who were quickest in the #1 Rebellion R13-Gibson of Rebellion Racing (1:59.577, the average of the two fastest laps by two drivers). They will start from pole position on the 29-car grid (following the withdrawal of Algarve Pro Racing, for health reasons). The two Toyota TS050 Hybrids, affected by the success handicap, were around one second slower than the Rebellion, the #8 prototype proving to be a shade faster than its sister car.

In LMP2, the fastest average was a time of 2:02.148, produced by United Autosports and its duo of Hanson and Di Resta.

The #92 Porsche topped the LMGTE Pro timesheets with 2:14.207 and, finally, in LMGTE Am, the best performance was put in by Dempsey Proton Racing’s #77 Porsche: 2:16.519.

This sixth round of the FIA World Endurance Championship season will start at 13:30. The seventh and penultimate round will be the 24 Hours of Le Mans on 19-20 September.
