Winner of the FIA Endurance Private LM P1 Teams Trophy since the award has existed, the Rebellion Racing team has until now entered two R-Ones developed with the support of Oreca in the World Endurance Championship (WEC). As its resources are limited, the Swiss outfit is choosing to scale back in the championship to focus its financial means on the 2017 version of its car.

Rebellion Racing intends to incorporate the changes in the technical regulations - especially in terms of aerodynamics - announced at the ACO press conference for the 84th edition of the 24 Hours of Le Mans. The goal is to reduce the gap between the hybrid prototypes designed by manufacturers and the conventional engine prototypes of private outfits.

The entry of just one R-One nevertheless leaves all chances to the Swiss team in the championship since the #13 car driven by Dominik Kraihamer, Mathéo Tuscher and Alexandre Imperatori possesses a lead of 45 points, or almost two wins, on its rival Team ByKOLLES Racing's CLM P1/01. The latter having started in a cloud of smoke at this year's 24 Hours of Le Mans, Rebellion Racing marked the maximum points, 50 (the 24 Hours of Le Mans counting double), in the championship with the #12 car, whereas the #13 car was not ranked.
