WEC - The ESM team on the podium at the 6 Hours of Silverstone (video)
The Extreme Speed Motorsports team arrived at Silverstone in the U.K. fresh off its two wins - at the Rolex 24 at Daytona and the 12 Hours of Sebring - the first two rounds of the Weathertech SportsCar Championship. An additional victory was therefore in sight, this time in the World Endurance Championship (WEC).
Two Ligier JS P2-Nissans were entered by Extreme Speed Motorsports in the LM P2 class at the 6 Hours of Silverstone in the U.K. The No. 31 was entrusted to Ryan Dalziel, Luis Felipe "Pipo" Derani and Chris Cumming, and the No. 30 was driven by Scott Sharp, Ed Brown and Johanes von Overbeek.
During qualifying, the No. 31 stood out with the second time in the class whereas the No. 30 found itself in 10th position, the last car in LM P2.
At the end of the race, the No. 31 - the car considered the faster of the two - finished nicely in second place which allowed the drivers to claim a podium finish. Despite a mistake by Chris Cumming at the chicane before pit lane, the trio was still able to fight for a top spot namely thanks to Derani.
The No. 30 driven by, among others, team owner Scott Sharp finished in ninth place.
