WEC – The Spa-Francorchamps roller coaster (video)
The 6 Hours of Spa-Francorchamps, second round of the FIA World Endurance Championship (WEC), was highly contested, particularly between Porsche and Audi. Meanwhile, Toyota remains a very serious contender for victory at the next race, the 24 Hours of Le Mans.
At the fast Belgian circuit, Audi once again prevailed after battling at length with the Porsche 919 Hybrids, namely the No. 18 of Dumas-Jani-Lieb. But in the end, the No. 7 Audi R18 e-tron quattro driven by Lotterer-Fässler-Tréluyer won again after its victory at Silverstone. Porsche, second and third in LM P1 but also in LM GTE with the two 911 RSRs, nonetheless showed it is still in the running at Le Mans, after its 16 previous wins at the 24 Hours.
In this video, relive the WEC 6 Hours of Spa-Francorchamps as experienced by Porsche. The similarities between the sensations felt on a roller coaster and on board German LM P1s is striking.
Now on to the 24 Hours of Le Mans where Porsche Team will enter three 919 Hybrids in LM P1 and two 911 RSRs in LM GTE Pro. Test Day will take place May 31st and the 83rd edition will take place June 13th and 14th.
