Over the last hour, the track was only fully available for racing for... 10 minutes! The Slow Zone procedure was activated to clean the track and remove the debris that had accumulated at several points around the circuit. Then, the safety cars were called in to bunch together the competitors and ensure safe conditions for the marshals.
The most notable intervention was at Tertre Rouge where a drain cover near the rumble strip needed to be replaced.
There were no changes in the standings.
At one point, Mike Conway in the #7 Toyota TS050 Hybrid moved to the front when Sébastien Buemi pitted in the #8. He handed the wheel over to Fernando Alonso, who remains on track now. He is racing against José María López, as was the case overnight when things went in the Spaniard’s favour. There are currently separated by a gap of just over two minutes, with Alonso in the lead.
