24 Hours of Le Mans – First pictures of Toyota Gazoo Racing’s Le Mans Hypercar

Ahead of the 8 Hours of Bahrain, the final round of the 2019-20 FIA WEC season, Toyota Gazoo Racing gave fans a glimpse of its future Le Mans Hypercar.

The TS050 Hybrid bowed out on a winning note this weekend at the 8 Hours of Bahrain, the closing round of the 2019-20 FIA WEC season.

Toyota Gazoo Racing can now focus fully on the successor to the LMP1 that will enter the new Hypercar class at the 24 Hours of Le Mans and the FIA WEC next season. The Paul Ricard circuit in Le Castellet in the south of France was the track chosen for initial testing last month. Mike Conway, José María López, Brendon Hartley and Sébastien Buemi were all called up to put it through its paces. Toyota is the first manufacturer to put its Hypercar on the track in preparation for the 2021 season. It is due to be joined by Glickenhaus and ByKolles in the Le Mans Hypercar class next year.

Although Toyota Gazoo Racing has yet to disclose details of its Hypercar, team president Hisatake Murata said: “The new Hypercar category is coming and this is very exciting. The roll-out of our new race car took place successfully last month and this was an important step for our project; now we are looking forward to showing our new car to the world.”

Toyota Gazoo Racing is set to officially unveil the new Le Mans Hypercar on 11 January 2021.
