24 Hours of Le Mans – Iron Lynx tweaks driver line-ups

In the wake of the Monza round of the 2021 FIA World Endurance Championship season, and in view of the 24 Hours of Le Mans, certain teams are making final changes to their driver line-ups.

Case in point: the Iron Lynx team, fielding three Ferraris this year at the 24 Hours of Le Mans, has decided to rearrange two driver line-ups for the race.

The outfit's #80 Ferrari 488 GTE Evo will no longer see Italian drivers Matteo Cressoni and Rino Mastronardi supported by fellow countryman Andrea Piccini as originally expected. The latter will be replaced by Callum Ilott. A driver out of the Ferrari Driver Academy, he is cutting short his Formula 2 season. Ilott is looking to move into Formula 1 next year and is currently a test driver for Scuderia Ferrari and a reserve driver for Alfa Romeo.

An additional crew modification has taken place for the "Iron Dames" #85 Ferrari 488 GTE Evo. Regular drivers Rahel Frey and Michelle Gatting will now share the wheel with Sarah Bovy. The Belgian driver took part this past weekend in the FIA WEC 6 Hours of Monza on behalf of the Iron Lynx team with Frey and Gatting. For her debut in the championship, she finished eighth in LMGTE Am, after recently finishing second in the GT3 class in the Michelin Le Mans Cup at Monza.
