24 Hours of Le Mans - Polemen reactions

For the second year in a row, Swiss driver Neel Jani, French driver Romain Dumas and German driver Marc Lieb will start from pole position this Saturday at the 84th edition of the 24 Hours of Le Mans.

The rain that fell throughout the evening prevented times established yesterday from being improved. So Neel Jani has scored the 2016 pole position in 3:19:733. It is the Swiss driver's second consecutive pole, and since last year he holds the record for pole position at the circuit's current configuration.

Neel Jani: "Last year's pole position was a really big performance, but conditions this year were very different. Yesterday, when I realized I was going to be the 2016 pole, there were a lot of people on the track, and everyone could go faster."

Romain Dumas: "We could have clocked 3:18, but this 2016 starting grid hierarchy with two Porsches, two Audis and two Toyotas doesn't mean much. The Audis' laps weren't as fast as at Test Day, but there is no reason why they can't manage whereas Toyota was surprising."

Marc Lieb: "We tried the car in all the conditions, with dry and wet settings. That's all we could do during these three qualifying sessions. We found a good middleground but I think the true pace will come during the race."
