24 Hours of Le Mans – Toyota to launch Le Mans Hypercar in January

Save the date! 11 January 2021 is when Toyota will launch the Hypercar that will compete in the FIA World Endurance Championship and the 24 Hours of Le Mans. This machine will enter the Hypercar class, the new top class of FIA WEC and the legendary French endurance race.

A few weeks after clinching a third consecutive 24 Hours of Le Mans win, Toyota has revealed the launch date for its new Le Mans Hypercar – 11 January 2021. This machine will compete in the new top class of the FIA World Endurance Championship, including the 24 Hours of Le Mans.

“Preparation of the Hypercar is going well," said Sébastien Buemi ahead of the 24 Hours of Le Mans. "I’ve had quite a few days in the simulator and even did my seat mould last week. We should be doing the first tests in October. Then we'll do the crucial development work to be ready and reliable in the first races of 2021. That final point will be all-important.”

The Japanese manufacturer presented its street-legal version, for which development work is ongoing, before the 24 Hours of Le Mans last month. Alexander Wurz, the former Toyota Gazoo Racing works driver and two-time winner Le Mans winner (1996 and 2009), gave us a real glimpse of what lies in store during the demonstration lap.
