24 Hours of Le Mans – Track tour for Drivers and Officials

Three drivers were invited by the Automobile Club de l’Ouest and 24 Hours of Le Mans race control for an inspection tour of the circuit on Friday evening, ahead of Test Day (Sunday 2 June).

Some of them are already familiar with the 13.626 km of the Circuit des 24 Heures du Mans, but from inside a cockpit. They formed part of a select group who covered it on foot on Friday evening. The inspection party comprised Alexander Wurz, two-time Le Mans winner and Toyota Gazoo Racing consultant, Patrick Morisseau, clerk of the course for the 24 Hours of Le Mans, Yannick Dalmas, FIA WEC stewards’ consultant, Eduardo Freitas, FIA WEC race director, Alexandre Leffray, ACO racetrack manager, Vincent Beaumesnil, ACO sports director, Stephane Donnet, head of ACO racetrack organisation, Gianmaria Bruni, Porsche LMGTE Pro driver, Clément Hugon, ACO sports executive, and Nicolas Lapierre, Signatech Alpine Matmut driver (LMP2).

The aim of this tour was to give drivers and organisers an opportunity to review the various modifications made to the track ahead of tomorrow’s Test Day for the 87th 24 Hours of Le Mans. A driver from each class accompanied the group to take on board the various points of view. Turn angles, kerb heights, run-offs and racing lines were just some of the topics discussed during the walk.

Test Day begins at 09:00 on Sunday 2 June. Holders of a ticket for the 24 Hours of Le Mans can attend Test Day at no extra cost, while day tickets are on sale at the circuit (€22).
