Two teams in the LM P2 class are putting special emphasis on music in their decorations. The sides of Irish team Murphy Prototypes' Oreca 03 (No. 48) pay tribute to Jazz, as a nod to the extracurricular activities of its American gentleman-driver, Mark Patterson, a chairman on the Board of Directors of Jazz at Lincoln Center, one of the most prestigious American music institutions, based in New York. American team ESM's two Ligier JS P2s (No. 30 and 31) sport the colours of Rolling Stone magazine.
Life in the pits, simultaneously frenzied and hyper-focused in anticipation of Scrutineering, is also scored with different music from one pit to the next. British team Jota Sport often goes with classic rock from the 1970s like Led Zeppelin, AC/DC or even Isaac Hayes and his legendary "Shaft" soundtrack. A few pits away, the technical team for the three 919 Hybrids is working to the sound of Bruce Springsteen's "Dancing in the Dark" (1984). It's one of the more unique aspects - and charming - of Test Day: the pits at the 24 Hours of Le Mans can turn into veritable jukeboxes!
