All seven Le Mans BMW Art Cars on display at Rétromobile 2026 in Paris

In a tribute to a half-century of fantastic liveries, this year’s Rétromobile show (28 January to 1 February at Paris Expo Porte de Versailles) will be showcasing the seven 24 Hours of Le Mans BMW Art Cars.

Rétromobile attracts enthusiasts from far and wide, and the 2026 edition will be no exception, this year’s show being an official stage in the BMW Art Car World Tour. To celebrate its 50th edition, the show is paying tribute to the BMW Art Cars, having gathered all seven together for a special exhibition. From Alexander Calder’s 1976 masterpiece, to Jeff Koons’ spectacular creation, the meeting of contemporary art and automotive excellence is captivating.

The 24 Hours of Le Mans as the backdrop

An Art Car is a moving work – a display of creative and engineering prowess. The BMW Art Car adventure was launched in 1975 by art auctioneer and motor racing driver Hervé Poulain, who saw the potential of using a race car as a canvas. He enlisted American artist Alexander Calder to paint his BMW 3.0 CSL. Unveiled a week before the 1975 24 Hours of Le Mans, it was the first in a series that has spanned fifty years. In that time, world-famous artists Frank Stella, Roy Lichtenstein, Andy Warhol and Jeff Koons have all created liveries for BMW race cars, each one a unique combination of speed, design and culture.

All seven BMW Art Cars that took part in the 24 Hours of Le Mans will be on display together for the first time in France this January. This stage of the BMW Art Car World Tour is a homecoming for the machines designed to race at Le Mans and a special treat for visitors to the forthcoming Rétromobile show.
