For the fourth consecutive year, the Dunlop tyre company will hand over the task of decorating one of the 56 cars entered the 24 Hours of Le Mans to an emerging artist.
Since 1970, and the entry of a Porsche 917 with a psychedelic paint job, the Le Mans 24 Hours has cultivated the tradition of "Art Cars". We remember in particular the media interest aroused by the BMW M3 decorated by renowned sculptor Jeff Koons in 2010.
For four years, Dunlop has used a different philosophy to BMW by entrusting the decoration of a car to a budding artist. In June, the the decoration the Ferrari 458 Italia #66 in LM GTE "Pro", will be entrusted to an "Am" designer.
Candidates have until the 10th May to submit their designs on the Art Car Competition website. On the 17th May, a panel of experts will choose the winner. Two other artists will also be rewarded.
Besides the honour of his achievement on the track, the competition winner will be invited to the Test Day 'backstage' at the JMW Motorsport team. The winner will also receive two tickets to the race and a prize of €1,000.
