Though Richie Stanaway has only two participations in the 24 Hours of Le Mans with Aston Martin Racing, he has become major player in the ranks of the British marque whose sporting program has been 100% in-house for five seasons. But this year, he will only compete in the first three rounds of the championship (Silverstone, Spa and Le Mans) in the #95 Vantage with the "Dane Train" - Danish duo Nicki Thiim and Marco Sørensen, winner of the World Endurance GTE Drivers Cup last year.
Unlike the New Zealander, Daniel Serra, who is quite familiar with the Vantage after having assisted in the development of its Dunlop tires, will be debuting in both the World Endurance Championship (FIA WEC) and the 24 Hours of Le Mans. However, the Brazilian driver - joining Darren Turner, two-time class winner at Le Mans, and Jonny Adam in the #97 Vantage - is not entirely new to endurance racing itself since he did take the start at a Le Mans Series race at home, in Interlagos, in 2007.
It was also in 2007 that Aston Martin won the first of its two victories in the old LM GT1 class with the DBR9 at Le Mans. On June 17th and 18th, the British manufacturer - after recently renewing its commitment in the World Endurance Championship (FIA WEC) for five years - will once again attempt to win with the Vantage at the 24 Hours.
