During a recent Club soirée for friends of the 24 Hours of Le Mans, which took place on Thursday, October 27th in Couëron (a suburb of Nantes), Alpine Deputy Managing Director Bernard Ollivier discussed the new series car as well as the marque's past and future at the 24 Hours of Le Mans.

Twenty-four cars are set to line up in the LMGT3 category at the 93rd 24 Hours of Le Mans (11-15 June). Nine iconic marques — Aston Martin, BMW, Corvette, Ferrari, Ford, Lexus, McLaren, Mercedes-AMG and Porsche — will compete through private teams. Here is an overview of the 15 LMGT3 teams entered in the race.

<h2>What is an LMGT3?</h2>

<p>The GT category at the&nbsp;24 Hours of Le&nbsp;Mans and in the FIA World Endurance&nbsp;Championship (WEC)&nbsp;is based on the existing FIA GT3 platform. Cars built to GTE technical regulations were replaced last year. Only recognised manufacturers producing more than 2,500 vehicles per year for use on public roads are eligible for this category.</p>

<p>In 2025, nine major constructors&nbsp;are represented via private teams: <strong>Aston Martin, BMW, Corvette, Ferrari, Ford, Lexus, Mercedes-AMG, McLaren and&nbsp;Porsche</strong>.</p>

<p>Driver line-ups must include at least one&nbsp;Bronze driver and one&nbsp;Bronze or Silver driver.</p>

<p>This French team based in Haute-Savoie is lining up for&nbsp;its rookie start in the 24 Hours, taking&nbsp;over for&nbsp;Japanese team D&rsquo;Station Racing (entered in the Le Mans classic and&nbsp;​​WEC for the last four years) as a team supported by Aston Martin Racing in LMGT3. Racing Spirit of L&eacute;man already clinched wins&nbsp;in&nbsp;LMP3 and&nbsp;GT3 in the 2022 and 2023 Le Mans Cup. Last year, the team participated in the European Le Mans Series with two&nbsp;podiums and third place in the final&nbsp;LMGT3 classification.</p>

<p>The Aston Martin Vantage AMR LMGT3 is entrusted to&nbsp;Derek Deboer/Valentin Hasse-Clot/Eduardo Barrichello (son of&nbsp;two-time F1 world vice-champion Rubens Barichello). Racing Spirit of L&eacute;man figures 14th in the FIA&nbsp;Endurance LMGT3 Teams trophy after earning points at the Qatar 1812 km and&nbsp;TotalEnergies 6 Hours of&nbsp;Spa-Francorchamps.</p>

<h2>AWA Racing</h2>

<p>#13 &ndash; Corvette Z06 LMGT3.R &ndash; Orey Fidani / Lars Kern / Matthew Bell</p>

<p>AWA Racing has been invited to take part in the 93rd 24 Hours thanks to the&nbsp;performances delivered by&nbsp;Orey Fidani, named the Bronze Best Driver and winner of the Bob Akin Award&nbsp;in the IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship last season. This Canadian team won the GTD category at the Rolex 24 at Daytona in January and is hoping to capitalise on its Floridian success for&nbsp;its debut at the 24 Hours.</p>

<h2>Vista AF Corse</h2>

<p>Ferrari is once again putting its faith in&nbsp;AF Corse to run two&nbsp;296 LMGT3s in the&nbsp;WEC and&nbsp;at Le&nbsp;Mans. Both cars are looking to win the category. The&nbsp;#21 already claimed&nbsp;the top step on the LMGT3 podium at the&nbsp;TotalEnergies 6 Hours of&nbsp;Spa-Francorchamps. The&nbsp;#54 is shared by&nbsp;Thomas Flohr/Francesco Castellaci/Davide Rigon, a&nbsp;close-knit trio working together for three seasons. The #21 Ferrari is in second place in the FIA Endurance LMGT3 Team trophy and the&nbsp;#54 is in fifth.</p>

<h2>Heart of Racing Team</h2>

<p>#27 &ndash; Aston Martin Vantage AMR LMG &ndash; Ian James / Mattia Drudi / Zacharie Robichon</p>

<p>This is the second&nbsp;Aston Martin&nbsp;Vantage AMR LMGT3 supported by&nbsp;Aston Martin Racing.&nbsp;Ian James&#39; team is also involved in the entry of&nbsp;two Valkyries in the Hypercar category. Heart of Racing is in revenge mode&nbsp;for its second&nbsp;participation in the&nbsp;24 Hours. Last year, the team was forced to retire following a stunning incident at the Indianapolis corner. James has brought on two new teammates this year,&nbsp;Mattia Drudi and&nbsp;Zacharie Robichon previously with&nbsp;Proton Competition.</p>

<h2>The Bend Team WRT &amp; Team WRT</h2>

<p>#31 &ndash; BMW M4 LMGT3 &ndash; Yasser Shahin / Timur Boguslavskiy / Augusto Farfus<br />

<p>Team WRT is a top contender for a category win&nbsp;with the&nbsp;BMW M4 LMGT3. In 2024, the&nbsp;#31 clinched second place, but the&nbsp;#46 was forced to retire after Ahmad Al Harthy left the track. This season, the&nbsp;#31 reached the third step on the podium at the Qatar&nbsp;1812 km and the&nbsp;#46 finished second at the 6 Hours of Imola. The latter will be driven by&nbsp;nine-time Grand Prix Moto&nbsp;World Champion&nbsp;<a href="https://www.24h-lemans.com/en/news/valentino-rossi-to-take-part-in-the-24-hours-of-le-mans-for-the-second-time-59256" target="_blank"><strong>Valentino Rossi</strong></a>&nbsp;making his second appearance in the 24 Hours. He draws a great deal of attention for good reason.</p>

<h2>TF Sport</h2>

<p>This British team (LMGTE Am winner at the 2022&nbsp;24 Hours)&nbsp;represents&nbsp;Corvette in the&nbsp;LMGT3 category. Last year, the two&nbsp;Z06 LMGT3.Rs finished&nbsp;11th and&nbsp;15th. The trio sharing the&nbsp;#81 is the same as last year, but Ben Keating has joined the driver line-up for&nbsp;the&nbsp;#33. At age&nbsp;53, he is fastest among the&nbsp;amateur drivers. Keating won in LMGTE Am&nbsp;at the Centenary in 2023. In a category where the amateur driver often makes the difference, he is a killer asset&nbsp;teaming up with&nbsp;Jonny Edgar and&nbsp;Daniel Juncadella. The #33&nbsp;Corvette won the&nbsp;Qatar 1812 km, is dominating the FIA Endurance LMGT3 Teams trophy and is considered a favourite to win in LMGT3.</p>

<h2>Kessel Racing</h2>

<p>#57 &ndash; Ferrari 296 LMGT3 &ndash; Takeshi Kimura / Daniel Serra / Casper Stevenson</p>

<p>This Swiss outfit has four&nbsp;participations in the&nbsp;24 Hours to its credit. Its last appearance dates back to&nbsp;2023 with two Ferrari 488 GTE Evos fielded in LMGTE Am. This year, the team is competing in the European Le Mans Series and&nbsp;figures fourth in LMGT3 thanks to a second place finish at the&nbsp;4 Hours of Barcelona. Takeshi Kimura is joined by 2017 and 2019 LMGTE Pro winner&nbsp;Daniel Serra and Casper Stevenson who represented&nbsp;D&rsquo;Station Racing in 2023.</p>

<h2>United Autosports</h2>

<p>This year&nbsp;marks the&nbsp;30th&nbsp;anniversary of the&nbsp;McLaren F1 GTR&#39;s victory at Le&nbsp;Mans, and&nbsp;the constructor is back with the&nbsp;720S LMGT3 Evo entrusted to&nbsp;United Autosports. Meanwhile,&nbsp;McLaren is also preparing to take&nbsp;on the&nbsp;<a href="https://www.24h-lemans.com/en/news/mclaren-racing-to-join-the-hypercar-fray-in-2027-59502" target="_blank"><strong>Hypercar category in&nbsp;2027</strong></a>. Last year, both LMGT3s were forced to retire, but the 2025 WEC season opener helped to ease the pain when the #59 finished second trailing the winner by just 0.4 seconds at the&nbsp;Qatar 1812 km. That&nbsp;performance allowed United Autosports to climb to the sixth spot in the FIA Endurance LMGT3 Teams trophy. The #59 McLaren is sporting a&nbsp;<strong><a href="https://www.24h-lemans.com/en/news/24-hours-of-le-mans-2025-the-59-mclaren-sports-a-livery-committed-to-fighting-meningitis-59554" target="_blank">special livery</a>&nbsp;</strong>highlighting&nbsp;the&nbsp;Meningitis Flag to raise awareness about a disease that is still too often misunderstood.</p>

<p>Mercedes is also back at the&nbsp;24 Hours of Le&nbsp;Mans! The German&nbsp;marque, absent since&nbsp;1999, is counting on Italian team&nbsp;Iron Lynx to run three&nbsp;Mercedes-AMG LMGT3s. To give this&nbsp;return every chance at&nbsp;success, Mercedes did not hesitate to call upon&nbsp;factory drivers like&nbsp;Maxime Martin (nine&nbsp;participations). <p>Entered in&nbsp;competition in 2024, the&nbsp;Ford Mustang LMGT3 quickly made its mark, namely thanks to its&nbsp;5.4-litre&nbsp;naturally aspirated V8 engine and muscle car design. At the&nbsp;24 Hours of Le&nbsp;Mans, Proton Competition reached the&nbsp;podium. Ford Performance and&nbsp;Multimatic took advantage of the winter break to&nbsp;optimise the&nbsp;Mustang GT3, resulting in a GTD Pro category win at the&nbsp;Rolex 24 at&nbsp;Daytona in January. After three rounds in the&nbsp;WEC, Proton Competition is 10th&nbsp;and 11th in the FIA&nbsp;Endurance LMGT3 Teams trophy, the&nbsp;#88 ahead of the&nbsp;#77. Fans of the American carmaker and 24 Hours of Le&nbsp;Mans will no doubt have their eyes fixed on these two&nbsp;Mustangs&nbsp;with their distinctive roars and iconic colours.</p>

<h2>Akkodis ASP Team</h2>

<p>J&eacute;r&ocirc;me Policand&#39;s team is heading into its second&nbsp;participation in the&nbsp;24 Hours with the&nbsp;Lexus RC F LMGT3. Last year, both&nbsp;cars made it to the chequered flag with the&nbsp;#78 slipping into seventh place and the&nbsp;#87 into 10th in&nbsp;LMGT3. The experience gained in 2024 is allowing the team to approach the race with more confidence this time around, especially after finishing third and fourth at the 6&nbsp;Hours of Imola. Akkodis ASP Team intends to continue the momentum at Le Mans. 2021 24 Hours winner (with Toyota)&nbsp;Jos&eacute; Mar&iacute;a L&oacute;pez will join forces at the&nbsp;wheel of the #87 with&nbsp;Petru Umbrarescu and&nbsp;Clemens Schmid.</p>

<h2>Iron Dames</h2>

<p>#85 &ndash; Porsche 911 GT3 R LMGT3 &ndash; C&eacute;lia Martin / Rahel Frey / Michelle Gatting</p>

<p>The&nbsp;Iron Dames team is kicking off a new era under the expert banner of Manthey Racing. Replaced&nbsp;is the&nbsp;Lamborghini Hurac&aacute;n LMGT3 Evo 2 with which&nbsp;Sarah Bovy/Michelle Gatting/Rahel Frey finished fifth in&nbsp;LMGT3 last year with&nbsp;the&nbsp;Porsche 911 GT3 R LMGT3. Le Mans veterans Frey and Gatiting will share the #85 with C&eacute;lia Martin. This all-female trio finished eighth at the&nbsp;6 Hours of Imola and 10th at the&nbsp;TotalEnergies 6 Hours of&nbsp;Spa-Francorchamps. After the Belgian round, Martin said: <em>We will&nbsp;take a look at what we can improve in the coming days to be ready for Le&nbsp;Mans. I&#39;m sure we&#39;ll make progress and learn a few things.</em></p>

<h2>Manthey &amp; Manthey 1ST Phorm</h2>

<p>The #92&nbsp;Porsche 911 GT3 R LMGT3&nbsp;is the defending&nbsp;LMGT3 champion. A five-time category winner at Le Mans, Team Manthey is obviously a favourite contender, and last year&#39;s winner Richard Lietz is returning, as well as Antares Au and&nbsp;Klaus Bachler. The&nbsp;#92 won the&nbsp;6 Hours of Imola in April and&nbsp;figures fourth in the FIA Endurance LMGT3 Teams trophy. The&nbsp;#90 earned its invitation after its GT victory&nbsp;in the 2024-2025 Asian Le Mans Series.&nbsp;</p>

<h2>Richard Mille AF Corse</h2>

<p>#150 &ndash; Ferrari 296 LMGT3 #150 &ndash; Custodio Toledo / Lilou Wadoux / Riccardo Agostini</p>

<p>The entry of this&nbsp;Ferrari 296 LMGT3 (supported technically by&nbsp;AF Corse) brings with it the return of Lilou Wadoux to the&nbsp;24 Hours of Le&nbsp;Mans. She is set to team up with&nbsp;Custodio Toledo from the&nbsp;Ferrari Challenge and&nbsp;Riccardo Agostini. The car is competing in the European Le Mans Series, won the&nbsp;4 Hours of Le&nbsp;Castellet and figures second in the overall&nbsp;LMGT3 classification behind Iron Dames.</p>

<h2>Ziggo Sport Tempesta</h2>

<p>This British team owes its&nbsp;invitation to the 24 Hours&nbsp;to its win in the Bronze category of the 2024 GT World Challenge. The triumph served as an excellent springboard for more ambitious goals, namely competing at Le&nbsp;Mans. Chris Froggatt and&nbsp;Edward Cheever, last year&#39;s Challenge winners are back, joining forces with Hong Kong businessman&nbsp;Jonathan Hui.</p>

2025 24 Hours of Le Mans – Presentation of the LMGT3 category

L’Épau Abbey on the outskirts of Le Mans was the majestic setting chosen by "Association Jean Rondeau" to unveil the restored Rondeau M382.  This car is the very definition of a dream coming true. That of one man, driver and manufacturer Jean Rondeau, who inscribed his name in the legend of the French endurance classic.

<p>In the long line of 24 Hours of Le Mans winners, one name stands out: <a href="https://www.24h-lemans.com/en/news/24-hours-centenary-jean-rondeaus-unifying-enthusiasm-and-determination-56950" target="_blank">Jean Rondeau</a>. In 1980, Rondeau triumphed at the end of <strong>an iconic race</strong> to become the only driver-cum-manufacturer to win at the wheel of a car he designed himself, the M379B. But over and above this unique feat, the native of Le Mans embraced the audacity, ingenuity and passion of those who live and breathe motorsport. Following his tragic death five years later, his achievement continued to inspire young engineers and enthusiasts.</p>

<h2>The M382 reborn</h2>

<p>The Rondeau M382 is about to rejoin the track 44 years after its maiden appearance. <a href="https://asso-jeanrondeau.fr/" target="_blank"><u><strong>Association Jean Rondeau</strong></u></a>, founded by former team members, has undertaken an ambitious restoration programme&nbsp;that the man himself would have been proud of. The aim of the initiative was to revive one of the cars from the Le Mans stable that flew the flag for French creativity in the 1980s.</p>

<p>The project focused&nbsp;on four main objectives:</p>

	<li><strong>Restoring the M382</strong> in line with the FIA rulebook to obtain its technical passport</li>
	<li><strong>Installing a new&nbsp;Ford Cosworth V8</strong>, identical to the original engine, to guarantee authentic performance</li>
	<li><strong>Participating in Le&nbsp;Mans Classic 2025</strong>&nbsp;with talented young drivers at the wheel, thus perpetuating Rondeau&rsquo;s pioneering spirit</li>
	<li><strong>Sharing know-how&nbsp;</strong>by training new generations&nbsp;of mechanics in the specific techniques of restoring racing cars</li>
</ul>

<h2>Reviving history</h2>

<p>The presentation of the Rondeau M382 at L&rsquo;&Eacute;pau Abbey marked a key step in this human and mechanical adventure. The historic royal abbey proved to be the ideal setting to honour Rondeau&rsquo;s memory and celebrate the rebirth of his car. The event coincided with the publication of <a href="https://boutique.lemans.org/fr/librairie-papeterie/4685-Bd-24-Heures-Du-Mans-1979-1980-L-Enfant-du-pays.html" target="_blank"><u><strong>the graphic novel <em>24 Heures du Mans 1979-1980 &ndash; L&rsquo;enfant du pays</em></strong></u></a>&nbsp;(&Eacute;ditions Gl&eacute;nat), which forcefully recounts this unique moment of local history.</p>

<p>Association Jean Rondeau is more than just restoring a car. It is reviving <strong>an important component of 24 Hours of Le Mans heritage</strong>. The M382 will return to the track at&nbsp;<a href="https://www.24h-lemans.com/en/news/the-le-mans-classic-to-return-3-6-july-2025-58274" target="_blank"><u><strong>Le Mans Classic 2025</strong></u></a>, where she is sure to delight enthusiastic followers of French automotive history.
