Breaking: the Porsche winner at Le Mans visits Toyota Motorsport's headquarters

For the presentation press conference for the 6 Hours of Nürburgring, fourth round of the 2017 World Endurance Championship (FIA WEC) season, Porsche visited Toyota's German headquarters.

Porsche did not go to pay a courtesy visit to the unfortunate loser of the 24 Hours of Le Mans, Toyota, but to attend the press conference for the 6 Hours of Nürburgring in Cologne, Germany.

The photo, while perfectly reflecting the spirit of endurance racing, is nonetheless extremely unique: the Porsche 919 Hybrid winner of the 85th edition of the 24 Hours of Le Mans this past June next to its natural rival, the Toyota TS050 HYBRID, in front of the Japanese manufacturer's sporting branch located in Cologne, with one of the three recent winners, Timo Bernhard, and José María López, seated on their respective cars.

The now two-time German winner's bright smile, contrasts the slight grin of the Argentinian driver, whose #9 Toyota TS050 HYBRID was forced to retire at 1:35 a.m. on Sunday after his teammate Nicolas Lapierre was hit from behind by an LMP2 car.

The standings of the LMP1 class were totally upset and the hierarchy put into question after the 24 Hours of Le Mans: Toyota arrived in the lead of the World Endurance Championship (FIA WEC) but took its leave with a significant deficit of 32.5 points. Yet, despite its lead, Porsche wouldn't be adverse to taking possession of the Toyota TS050 HYBRID for a day, as suggested in the tweet below…

The fourth round of the 2017 World Endurance Championship (FIA WEC), the 6 Hours of Nürburgring, will take place Sunday, July 16th.
