ELMS - RML back in the endurance game and aiming for the 24 Hours of Le Mans

LM P2 winners at Le Mans 2005 and 2006, RML (for Ray Mallock Ltd.) will be back in 2017, fielding a Ligier JS P3 in the European Le Mans Series (ELMS). The team and drivers Bradley Smith and Evgeny Klyucharev see the LM P3 class as a springboard to the 24 Hours of Le Mans.

RML won the Le Mans Series, as the ELMS was then called, in 2007 and 2010. This time round, they will be joining forces with Mectech Motorsport, well known for their performance in Radical championships. The aim of the joint venture is to work up the endurance ladder towards the holy grail, i.e. a place on the grid at Le Mans 24 Hours.

Simon Holloway, Commercial Director at RML, comments: “At RML we see this as a great opportunity to re-enter Sports car racing and have been monitoring the LMP3 category for a while. The ACO have done a brilliant job introducing a very cost effective formula that provides great racing for Pro and Am drivers.  With RML and Mectech the ladder exists for aspiring drivers to make it all the way from dreaming of racing to the podium at Le Mans.”

The British team will soon be announcing an ambitious programme with several cars in the ELMS.
