Many drivers have one race contracts and need to start hunting for a ride after each race. Some, though secure an agreement with a manufacturer. In 2013 Frédéric Makowiecki has participated in two completely different leagues with two manufacturers who have little in common. After years of uncertainty, the dirver from Arras, Pas-de-Calais in France finally won the holy grail with Aston Martin in the FIA World Endurance Championship (WEC) and Honda in Super GT.
The French driver not only won the 1000km of Suzuka in the premier class GT500, but also set the fastest race lap. Not bad for a rookie ... Assisted by Naoki Yamamoto and helped by the Michelin tyres (double victory in GT300 and GT500), Frédéric Makowiecki reached the top step of the podium for the first time in his career in the Honda HSV of the team Weider Modulo Dome Racing, now only four points behind the leaders in the race for the title.
In the WEC, however, the task will be more difficult with 38 points behind the "factory" drivers of Porsche. However, "Fred Mako" can boast a third place at Silverstone and a second place at Spa-Francorchamps in the LM GTE Pro class, but hopes were set back when he failed to reach the finish in La Sarthe, where double points were at stake. One point for pole position in the class was cold comfort, especially as the Frenchman will not go to São Paulo for the fourth round of the WEC with Aston Martin Racing.
Frédéric Makowiecki will be at Fuji for the second time this year with the Super GT, Japanese Touring Car Championship, a circuit that the WEC will visit for the second consecutive year on the 20th of October.
