Son of an amateur rally driver,Neel Jani started early in karting . In 2000 he joined the ranks of  Formula Lista Junior and won his  first championship  . He then began an international career in Formula Renault, meeting future top drivers such as Robert Kubica, Christaian Klien , Danny Watts, Jamie Green, Bruno Spengler and Nicolas Lapierre. Finishing second , he was noticed by McLaren but it was finally with Sauber that he ran ​​his first laps in F1 , at only 19 years old. Later , he entered the fold of the new Red Bull team and was given the role of " Friday driver " at Toro Rosso. He showed well at Suzuka in the rain , by recording the second best time behind Anthony Davidson and ahead of  his team mates . This was not enough to give him a permanent drive in F1, so  he turned to the IndyCar series  before returning to Europe to win the A1GP championship. This was when he started to eye up a career in Endurance racing. In 2009 , he started the 24 Hours of Le Mans with the Speedy Racing ( now Rebellion ) team in which he spent the next four seasons , culminating in a victory at Petit Le Mans in 2012 . This result opened the door at Porsche, in which he will begin the 2014 campaign in LM P1 alongside Mark Webber, Nick Heidfeld , Romain Dumas and Timo Bernhard .
