The image of drivers crossing the track running towards their cars is part of the history of 24 Hours, but resided in motorsport history after being replaced in 1971 by the rolling start that still applies today. The 'Le Mans Start' was, however, reborn though in 2002 as part of the Le Mans Classic, where attendance has steadily increased over the five events, probably reaching 100,000 spectators in 2012.
