24h Le Mans
Toyota Gazoo Racing has announced that Mike Conway won’t be taking part in this year’s 24 Hours of Le Mans, the fourth round of the FIA 2024 World Endurance Championship, due to an injury.
Mike Conway suffered fractures to his ribs and collarbone in a cycling accident on Thursday. Unfortunately, this means that the British driver will miss the 92nd 24 Hours of Le Mans. Instead, José María López will be behind the wheel of the #7 Toyota GR010 Hybrid on Test Day this Sunday. The Argentine driver was initially scheduled to drive the #87 Akkodis ASP Team Lexus RC F LMGT3. He won the 2021 24 Hours of Le Mans with Conway and Kamui Kobayashi and is a two-time World Endurance Champion.
Conway has already begun an intensive rehabilitation programme, supervised by Toyota Gazoo Racing's medical staff, with a view to returning to racing as soon as possible.
The Automobile Club de l'Ouest wishes Mike all the best for a speedy recovery.
