Morgan, Lotus, Alpine and Caterham : From the road to the 24 Hours of Le Mans

After Alpine, and Lotus in LM P2 prototypes see, a few days before the Test Day Sunday, June 9, the 24 Hours of Le Mans 2013 (22-23rd June 23) will see the arrival of a fourth small sports car manufacturer has been announced; Caterham.

One of the two Zytek Nissans of Greaves Motorsport will be in the green livery of Caterham Motorsport. In the No.41, Tom Kimber-Smith (double winner out of the class at the 24 Hours) and Eric Lux have as crew American Alexander Rossi, third driver for Caterham F1 Team, announced a few days ago.

LM P2 is attracting more and more manufacturers like Morgan, Lotus, Caterham and Alpine. The last three historic links. Four decades ago Caterham took over the manufacture the Lotus Seven, one of the most original small British sports cars ever conceived. In 2011, Caterham has become the property of the Malaysian businessman Tony Fernandes, who renamed his Formula 1 team ... formerly known as Lotus! Since last year, he has been associated with the rebirth of Alpine.

Caterham and Alpine partners on the road, will be opponents on the track in June 2013 on the circuit of Le Mans 24 Hours. The last minute arrival will in any case provide a little extra spice to the LM P2, the largest class on the entry list this year. The battle promises to be as great as that between Audi and Toyota in LM P1. For its part, Lotus will enter two cars (including driving Christophe Bouchut, winner in Sarthe in 1993), and five Morgans will be on the grid; three of OAK Racing, one of Morand Racing, and one of KCMG, the first Chinese team to participate in the 24 Hours.
