The Success Handicap has the seal of approval from the FIA Endurance Committee and will therefore apply as of the 6 Hours of Fuji and throughout the 2019-20 season.
Under the new system, speed restraints will be imposed on cars according to their rank in the previous race. The handicaps applied follow the championship points table.
Following the 4 Hours of Silverstone, the committee therefore took the race results and applied handicaps according to points awarded. There were 24.5 points between the first and last cars in the LMP1 class, the #7 Toyota and the #6 Ginetta.
The speed handicap applied to the Toyota is therefore 24.5 multiplied by 4.563 (the length of the Fuji circuit in kilometres).
As a result, the Toyota #7 will be 1.40 seconds slower per lap at Fuji than it would have been without the handicap. The same principle applies to all LMP1 cars.
