The status and reputation of rookie Nico Hülkenberg have increased since the surprise win for the trio he formed with another rookie at Le Mans, Earl Bamber, and Nick Tandy. None of the three buddies possessed the experience to master a prototype in the head class prior to first sliding behind the wheel of the Porsche 919 Hybrid, which did not prevent them from racing flawlessly, unlike their teammates and rivals.
Nico Hülkenberg will join Sebastian Vettel to race on behalf of Germany, a grueling task since he will succeed Michael Schumacher who won the Nations' Cup six times in a row with the four-time F1 World Champion with Red Bull.
Last year, however, it was the Scandinavians who won thanks to Petter Solberg and Tom Kristensen and who Nico Hülkenberg will join on the road, the nine-time winner at the 24 Hours of Le Mans coming out of retirement for the event. Nico Hülkenberg and Tom Kristensen will represent the 24 Hours of Le Mans at the Race of Champions on November 20th and 21st at Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park.
