The countdown has started for the 2012 Le Mans 24 Hours moto on the 8th and 9th of September. The 55 teams involved were announced on the 10th of August and now the 24 hour race will be the final decisive challenge in this season of motorcycle endurance, and will determine the allocation of world titles.
Final round of the FIM World Endurance Moto 24 Hours designate the champion 2012. After the Bol d'Or (France), the 8 Hours of Doha (Qatar) and the 8 Hours of Suzuka (Japan), the Suzuki Endurance Racing Team # 1 has strengthened its leading position in the standings with his victory at Oschersleben (Germany) on August 12, and now 19 points ahead of Team BMW Motorrad France 99 Thevent and Honda TT Legends No. 77. 40 points to take the victory at Le Mans step will be decisive for the attribution of the world crown in the category EWC. Especially as a 24-hour race, nothing is a foregone conclusion, endurance is by definition a more demanding discipline.
Same scenario for the Endurance World Cup in the Superstock class: the podium is still undecided. After his victory in Germany, Team Motors Events AMT # 50 leads the standings with just four points ahead of Team Endurance Moto 3D Center No. 24 and 13-Kraftwerk-Penz Herpigny Racing Team No. 13. The Belgian team DGSport Herock No. 99 is at the foot of the podium with 66 points. Nothing is played not in this category.
But beyond the FIM World Championship Endurance Moto 24 Hours sports have their own issues. Including uncommitted for teams globally, but may play spoilsport at the forefront. Highlight of the season shine at this legendary endurance race remains the main objective of all the crews. 2011 winners of the three categories will be present, including the SRC Kawasaki team No. 11 with Da Costa, Leblanc and Four, eager to mark their mark on the race by winning a hat-trick after victories in 2010 and 2011. Machine No. 55 National Motos, consisting of a homogeneous crew will also seek the first places. Guillaume Dietrich and Michael Savary Team Motors Events AMT No. 50 also know that winning at Le Mans success would crown their 2012 season. But beware of local test of the Junior Team Suzuki LMS No. 72 will be at the forefront. The battle will last for four teams in the Open class to earn a spot on the podium of the Sarthe Metiss JLC Moto No. 45 will attempt the double after winning last year.
To prepare for this big event, teams have the opportunity to come and test for two days on the Bugatti circuit, 22 and 23 August. A non-mandatory practice session, which will be an opportunity for these teams to assess, to observe and especially loose ends two weeks of the event.
The views of the forces and issues this year, it is difficult to predict the winners of the 2012 Le Mans 24 Hours. With a rich and shelf reading, this 35th edition looks already exciting and suspenseful.
