The Toyota TS050 Hybrid takes up residence at the 24 Hours Museum

On Tuesday 17 August, the 24 Hours Museum added to its permanent collection the Toyota TS050 Hybrid winner in 2020 driven by Sébastien Buemi, Brendon Hartley and Kazuki Nakajima.

The ceremony was attended by Automobile Club de l’Ouest President Pierre Fillon, 24 Hours Museum Director Fabrice Bourrigaud, Toyota Motorsport GmbH President Murata Hisatake, Toyota Motorsport GmbH Vice-President Rob Leupen and TOYOTA GAZOO Racing Technical Director Pascal Vasselon. The latter orchestrated the Japanese marque's participation in the 24 Hours of Le Mans.

The #8 Toyota TS050 Hybrid was unveiled by Pierre Fillon and Murata Hisatake, who symbolically handed the car's steering wheel to the ACO President. They then joined other Toyota executives in signing the gold book of the exhibition.

The newest addition to the 24 Hours Museum's permanent collection is a central figure of the Toyota exposition, the time of victory (from 9 July 2021 to 20 February 2022), surrounded by several other emblematic cars of the marque's history at the race. The Toyota TS050 Hybrid has won the last three editions of the 24 Hours of Le Mans.

Pierre Fillon, President of the Automobile Club de l’Ouest: "We are very honored to receive this TS050 Hybrid. Our museum boasts an exceptional collection and this car only enhances the exhibition. It is particularly symbolic as the last LMP1 to win the 24 Hours of Le Mans. I want to thank Toyota for its donation and loyalty to endurance racing."

Murata Hisatake, President of Toyota Motorsport GmbH: "This is a very moving moment and the culmination of our goal to be a part of the history of the 24 Hours of Le Mans. The race has itself enriched the history of Toyota. Thanks to the 24 Hours of Le Mans, Toyota has changed the image of hybrid technology, which now performs well while being an integral part of the fun of driving."

Fabrice Bourrigaud, Director of the 24 Hours of Le Mans Museum: "After the 2020 race behind closed doors, the public can now see the winning car, battle scars and all. For young generations, Toyota is major player in the recent history of the 24 Hours thanks to the TS050 Hybrid and the GT-One."
