After a disappointing race in 2011, including a massive accident, Allan McNish is back to take revenge. with the hybrid engined Audi R18 e-tron quattro, the Scotsman hopes to have the tool for the trade.
There is a good chance that it will rain tomorrow during the test runs. Bad news for everyone... except for you?
Allan McNish :" In Spa-Francoschamps the hybrid system proved it's effectiveness even in the rain. When the track is wet, four wheel drive is a huge advantage of course. But I'm not hoping for rain, neither for test day, nor for the race. Rain is a disadvantage to everybody in the race."
But on a dry track, the non-hybrid Audis are very fast...
"In Spa-Francorchamps, the difference between the two versions (hybrid and non hybrid) was very small. I do hope, though, that we have more room to improve, as we learn a lot every time we run the car."
What about the two Toyoas - Can they challenge the four Audis?
"I've run in Le Mans with Toyota in 1999 and in Formula One in the beginning of the 2000's so I know many of the guys on their team. I'm sure their car is very competitive already. Now it has to prove that it is reliable."
