On November 13, 1994, Michael Schumacher became the first German driver to become F1 World Champion. On June 15, 1952, Hermann Lange and Fritz Riess became the first Germans to win at the 24 Hours of Le Mans, in a German car, the Mercedes 300 SL.
The first two German drivers to take the start at the 24 Hours of Le Mans, in 1930, were Christian Werner and legendary Rudolf "Rudi" Caracciola in a Mercedes-Benz entered in the latter's name and forced to retire. It would not be before 1937 for two German drivers, Peter Graff Orssich and Rudolf Sauerwein, to cross the finish line, in sixth place in an Adler, and 1952 for a German to claim a podium finish...indeed, the top step…
