When thinking of past 24 Hours of Le Mans, the first thing that comes to mind is the names of the cars and the drivers who have won, but here is a story from the less thumbed pages of history.

When thinking of past 24 Hours of Le Mans, the first thing that comes to mind is the names of the cars and the drivers who have won, but here is a story from the less thumbed pages of history.

The 1953 race was marked by the victory of the Jaguar XK 120 No.18 of Tony Rolt and Duncan Hamilton four laps ahead of the sister car of Stirling Moss and Peter Walker. That year, the Allard Motor Company had two teams in the 24 Hours of Le Mans: the English Phil Allard and Sydney Fotheringham-Parker (No.4), and the American Dantov Zora Arkus and Ray Merry (No. 5). Unfortunately, both these two beautiful British cars retired during the race.
