In LM P1, Audi clinched its fourth consecutive pole position, this time with the #8 Audi R18 driven by Lucas di Grassi, Loïc Duval and Oliver Jarvis. It came in slightly ahead of the #1 Porsche 919 Hybrid of the world champions. Third position was nabbed by the #5 Toyota TS050 Hybrid which was fastest mid-session. In LM P2, new pole position for G-Drive Racing's #26 Oreca 05 Nissan ahead of the #36 Alpine A460 (in the lead in the championship) and Extreme Speed Motorsport's #30 Ligier with its adjusted driver line-up (Antonio Giovinazzi - selected for the FIA WEC Rookie Test in the Audi R18 - Giedo Van der Garde and Sean Gelael) and its new colours.
There is a huge battle brewing in LM GTE Pro, with sizable gaps, and so far the two Fords (#66 and #67) have proven fastest. In the LM GTE Am class, the #98 Aston Martin was fastest and came in ahead of the #83 Ferrari driven by French drivers Emmanuel Collard and François Perrodo, and Larbre Compétition's #50 Corvette C7R.
The top three cars in each class are separated by less than two-tenths. With such narrow gaps, don't miss this seventh round of the season! It will last six hours and start at 11:00 a.m. (local time) and 3:00 a.m. in the U.K.
