WEC - Porsche and Toyota are preparing for the 2017 season in Spain

Scheduled for three days, the second testing session of the 2017 version of the Porsche 919 Hybrid winner at the 24 Hours of Le Mans the last two years was extended to five days due to fog encountered during a night session. That allowed the German manufacturer to share the track with its rival in the LM P1 class, Toyota and its TS050 HYBRID.

Six drivers competing in the World Endurance Championship (WEC) were nose to the grindstone and covered 7,200 km while focusing both on endurance and development, as described by head track engineer Stephen Mitas.

It was the very first time the 2017 version of the Porsche 919 Hybrid has been tested since the marque previously used a 2016 model with 2017 components.

After the testing sessions, the six official drivers - Timo Bernhard, Earl Bamber (winner at Le Mans in 2015) and Brendon Hartley; and Neel Jani (winner at Le Mans in 2016), Nick Tandy (winner at the 24 Hours in 2015) and André Lotterer (three-time winner with Audi) posed amicably for official photos. Meanwhile, retired drive Mark Webber is having fun in VTT…

The kickoff of the 2017 season of the World Endurance Championship (WEC) will be given at Silverstone on April 16th, and the 24 Hours of Le Mans, the third race on the calendar, will take place on June 17th and 18th.
