There was no way the magic of the 24 Hours would fail to peak Steve Fossett's sense of adventure (1944-2007), and he took the start at Le Mans twice, in 1993 and 1996.

Since the first win in 1970, the lineage of Porsche prototypes sometimes gave rise to beautiful private initiatives, like the K8 Spyder prototype, decorated in the legendary blue and orange of the 917s from the early 1970s.

In addition to a record sixteen wins, the history of Porsche at the 24 Hours of Le Mans has sometimes been marked by cars that, despite not having won, have created their own legacies in La Sarthe with their originality and performances, such as the Porsche Kremer K8 Spyder, launched in 1994.

Victorious in 1968, 1969 and 1975, the orange and blue of gulf oil are part of the story of 24 hours, some of the cars are on show at retromobile.
