Toyota Gazoo Racing has announced its works drivers for the 2022 FIA World Endurance Championship season, including the 90th 24 Hours of Le Mans (11-12 June). Ryo Hirakawa will join the #8 Toyota GR010 Hybrid line-up.
Anything can happen in a 24-hour race and this year Thiriet by TDS Racing stumbled at one of Le Mans’ many hurdles. The French team’s Oreca 05 was in second place in LM P2 for much of the race when Pierre Thiriet went off at Mulsanne Corner, ending their hopes of a podium place.
The 22-year-old Japanese driver is a budding star of endurance racing. He is learning the ropes in the #46 Oreca-Nissan with French team Thiriet by TDS Racing and this is his first 24 Hours of Le Mans.
