24 Hours of Le Mans - Hour 9 Roundup

With Toyota comfortably in the lead, the battle between the non-hybrid cars is in full force, with the Rebellion R13-Gibsons greatly benefitting from the downfall of their Russian rival.

Since the start, Toyota has achieved a flawless race, their two hybrid prototypes never relinquishing the reins. The #7 TS050 Hybrid currently driven by Mike Conway is leading the #8 TS050 Hybrid with Sébastien Buemi at the wheel, with a three-lap gap separating them from the first non-hybrid car.

Against the Toyotas, the battle in LMP1 has become all-Swiss. The #17 BR Engineering BR1 in third position left the track in the Porsche Curves. Matevos Isaakyan exited the car to examine possible damage, then attempted to take the track again. But when a fire quickly broke out, the driver got out of the car a second and final time. The car officially retired at midnight, opening the door to the two Rebellion R13-Gibsons in third and fourth positions. The two Swiss cars had already taken advantage of engine sensor problems for the other BR Engineering BR1 earlier. At midnight, the #3 Rebellion R13-Gibson is in place for a podium finish, followed by the #1.

No change in the LMP2 class, with G-Drive Racing still leading. Signatech Alpine Matmut follows in second position with the other French teams still trailing: Panis Barthez Compétition, IDEC Sport, Graff-SO24 and TDS Racing.

In LMGTE Pro, at one point Porsche dominated the class with the #92, #91 and #93 911 RSRs leading the field. However, problems have begun to pile up. The #94 was forced to retire with a damaged suspension/chassis link and guaranteed the requisite safety. As midnight struck, the #93 Porsche 911 RSR returned to the pit. Porsche still holds a one-two with its two cars in vintage liveries, but eight cars remain in the lead lap and the smallest error could cost early as night has just fallen.

In LMGTE Am, Ferrari has finally slipped into first position, thanks solely to pit stops. The JMW Motorsport team's 488 GTE continues to stave off the 911 RSR fielded by Dempsey-Proton Racing. Seven cars are still within the same lap in the class.
