ELMS and Le Mans 2014 - An unforgettable year (video) for Matt McMurry (Zytek)

That's the case for the record of youngest driver entered at the 24 Hours of Le Mans : at not even 17 years of age, Matt McMurry dethroned Ricardo Rodriguez in June.

Sixteen years and 202 days - or 16 years, six months and 21 days: the amount of time that passed between the birth of Matt McMurry, driver of Greaves Motorsports' No. 41 Zytek Z11SN-Nissan and the start of the 24 Hours of Le Mans on June 14, 2014. The young American, driver Chris McMurry's son and titled driver in the European Le Mans Series, creamed by almost a year the record held since 1959 by Ricardo Gonzalez (Pedro's brother, victorious in Le Mans in 1968) at 17 years and 126 days.

By finishing the race, McMurry also wiped out the record of his fellow countryman Gunnar Jeannette, the youngest driver to cross the finish line - 18 years and 44 days old in 2000 - as he was racing a Manthey Racing team Porsche.
