Ten days after his terrible accident of the 24 Hours of Le Mans, Allan McNish has taken the wheel of an Audi R18 again and is preparing to compete in the six hours of Imola.

Two cars destroyed, the third in the museum, it will be wiith two brand new chassis that Audi will attempt to beat rivals Peugeot in Italy. A new "body kit" generating a better handling will be used for the occasion. "We need a good balance between top speed and downforce," says Allan McNish. "The brakes also are important because many corners have the potential for passing. "

The Scottish driver, who will teamed-up with Tom Kristensen in car #2, feels fully recovered from his terrible accident at Le Mans (see video HERE). Before going to Italy, he took the wheel of an Audi R18 TDI during a test at Lausitzring in Germany. As for the car #1, it will be in the hands of Timo Bernhard and Marcel Fässler, recent winners of the Le Mans 24 Hours.

Dr Wolfgang Ullrich (Head of Audi Motorsport): "We arrive at Imola as Le Mans winners, and we have the will to repeat a good performance. We built two new cars for Imola. They benefit from an aerodynamic version designed to create more downforce. I can not wait to see where we are compared to our friends at Peugeot who will do anything to avenge their defeat of Le Mans. "
