Photo of the Day – Geoff Brabham (Peugeot), the second Aussie to win Le Mans

On 2 November 1991, Australia won the second Rugby World Cup after beating England 12-6 on their home ground of Twickenham. On 20 June 1993, Geoff Brabham became the second Australian to win the 24 Hours of Le Mans after Vern Schuppan in 1983.

While Sir Jack Brabham remains the only driver to ever have won the Formula One World Championship title in a car bearing his own name, he failed in his three attempts to take the Le Mans crown (two retirements and an overall 15th place). His sons Geoff and David certainly did not enjoy such a stellar F1 career, but both drove a Peugeot to the 24 Hours of Le Mans title, with David following in his brother’s footsteps in 2009.
