Today's Photo Story - Romain Dumas wins the 2016 24 Hours of Le Mans with Porsche

On November 15, 1806, Lieutenant Zebulon Pike discovered a mountain that looked like a "small blue cloud," later to be called Pikes Peak in his honour. On June 19, 2016, Romain Dumas won the 24 Hours of Le Mans, one week before finishing first for the second time at the Pikes Peak hillclimb.

An eclectic driver in the image of his predecessors of the 1960s and '70s, Romain Dumas has succeeded in endurance, rally, cross-country rally and hillclimbs, as evidenced by his two wins at the famous Pikes Peak, nicknamed the "race to the clouds." The two-time 24 Hours of Le Mans winner, in 2010 with Audi and in 2016 with Porsche (congratulated by four-time winner Yannick Dalmas in the photo), clocked 8:51:445 with his Norma at Pikes Peak whereas the Zebulon Pike guys didn't reach the summit.
