Toyota celebrates 55 years of racing through an explosive one minute video clip.

In September 1957, a Japanese car participated for the first time in a race outside of Japan: A Toyota Crown took part in the 'Around Australia Trial', a competition which circumnavigated the continent, on the open road, as fast as possible!

Since then, the manufacturer has participated in all disciplines of motorsport including Formula 1 but especially in rallying in the early 70s to late 90s, taking three world manufacturers' titles with drivers such as Carloz Sainz, Didier Auriol and Juha Kankkunen.

Toyota had four major offensives in the 24 Hours of Le Mans: 1985-1990, 1992-1993, 1998-1999, and 2012. Although they have not yet won the event, they finished second twice, once in 1992 and again in 1999. This year, a prototype TS030 Hybrid is enterd in the FIA World Endurance Championship.
