The 1991 edition of the great Le Mans race marked the only win by a Japanese manufacturer to date in La Sarthe. It was also the first appearance of cars in the Sport 3.5L class at the 24 Hours, a class shunned at the occasion by Tom Walkinshaw Racing which preferred its Group Cs.

Born on April 26, 1958, Johnny Dumfries is one of the drivers who helped Jaguar reach the highest step of the podium of the 24 Hours of Le Mans at the end of the 1980s, all while extending in his own way the long lineage of aristocratic drivers in motorports.

In the late eighties, the return of Jaguar prototypes reached a summit with two wins in the same year at the 24 Hours of Le Mans and Daytona in 1988 and 1990.
